Obituary
Pvt. William P. Mooney, 18 years old, of Co. D, 106th 
  inf., was killed in action on August 27, according to a War Department telegram 
  received by his father, Patrick J. Mooney of 1401 77th Street. He was a nephew 
  of Edward J. Mooney, the contractor. A few days after the United States declared 
  war on Germany, Ptv. Mooney enlisted in the 14th Regiment, and shortly afterward 
  went to Spartanburg, S.C. for training, and then with the 106th Inf. to France. 
  He was only 17 years old when he enlisted. He received his education in Public 
  School 32 and was long a member of the R.C. Church of St. Agnes and later of 
  St. Michael's and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Fitting services will be held later. 
  Pvt. Mooney is survived by his father, Patrick J. Mooney, and four brothers, 
  Edward, Patrick, Joseph, and Francis.
