I sort of understand what you’re saying. The Base System Device is usually related to one of three pieces of hardware: If I clicked many, many times it would change to an arrow until I did something, then it would change back to a pointing hand. Most of the time the mouse pointer was a pointing hand not an arrow and left or right clicking did nothing.

The next time you see a big question mark or Unknown Device in Device Manager, you can now figure out exactly what piece of hardware is missing a driver. So the 15ac stack accounts for the dev id? In the VM guest, device with yellow bang comes up: I am afraid this question has been answered, but I have done many searches with no luck. Actually, there were several Base 15d Device driver errors, all with question marks.
