With proper auxiliary illumination, the QX3 computer microscope will produce acceptable digital images that will have a wide variety of applications. It is very easy to take snapshots of the image in the main viewing screen, or make movies and take timelapse photomicrographs in intervals of 1 sec to 1 hour. The accompanying software package provides an interface that is very nicely done with excellent graphics and audio clips that are presented through a kid-friendly layout. Before the introduction of this remarkable microscope, students were forced to peer into eyepieces with very narrow viewfields to visualize poorly illuminated specimens through optical systems capable of producing only blurred images. Using a solid surface to stabilize the body is necessary for capturing single frame digital images that are not blurred or out of focus due to movement of the body while acquiring the image.

Performance Enhancing Modifications – Although the QX3 microscope is solidly built and practically indestructible, we have found that several minor modifications greatly improve the overall performance of the microscope.
When replacing the lamp, remember to avoid touching the glass bulb with bare hands.
